This grew from a waltz sequence on Brian's nylon guitar, which evoked a nostalgia for the innocence of childhood. As the song evolved, Brian added tsuras & bouzouki to add to the atmosphere.
Lyrics: Who could not be moved to tears by the constant stream of news reports coming out of Aleppo? The question we all want the answer to.. Why does humanity keep repeating this abhorrent behaviour? The ones who can, seem intent on destroying the very weakest & most vulnerable of us.
Any proceeds from this song will go directly to a charity, helping the children of Aleppo.

Mohammed and Yana, Houman and Anas
Liliane & Zeinah, Amena & Rima, Maya & Amira, Achmed, Abooud
Bana & Rasha, Uri, Layal & Fathi & Sammi,
Adham & Akram, Rifat, Burhan.
The women are keening, but nobody hears
Collateral damage just falls on deaf ears
A playground of rubble, a rock for a toy
There’s nowhere to hide, when it’s seek & destroy
WHY……?
One hundred thousand children under siege
The Syrian Stalingrad, rockets & barrel bombs shatter the stage
All heaven’s birds now, their blood mixed with dust
Children of Aleppo have nobody left they can trust…
The women are keening, but nobody hears
Collateral damage just falls on deaf ears
A playground of rubble, a rock for a toy
There’s nowhere to hide, when it’s seek & destroy
WHY…..???
Cowboys & Indians, Arabs & Jews
Catholics & Protestants, Tutsies & Hutus, Sikhs & Hindus … me & you?
Nowhere to grow up, nowhere to play
The settlers & conquerors, those with the power, take childhood away….
