about

The "Remnants" part of the title refers to ghosts that are still with us.. Little flashbacks we both have to earlier times, as children. Now that both our fathers are gone, we find ourselves still haunted by their influence, their love, what they have left us within ourselves. The two of them had many similarities and we miss them both. Strangely, the original guitar riff and synth parts were recorded years ago, as a sketch on our old Fostex Digital Recorder. That's a Remnant too!

Heart

How much can a heart…..hold?

My Daddy was a quiet man, he never said much, but oh….
He carried much more than most men, his shoulders held up my world
My Daddy was a good man, he never did any harm
He carried his share of heartache, he held it in his arms
He never had ambition, he worked and he worked hard
He learned things don’t come easy, and some things break your heart
He never did ask for nothing, he gave his whole life through
The path we trod was difficult, but I know that he was true

How much can a heart …. hold?

Your Daddy was a quiet man, he rarely spoke his mind
but his brush could catch a landscape, all a shimmering in the light
Your Daddy was a good man, did his best for his family
and he gave his all to the system, all his creativity
He sat on his ambition, he worked and he worked hard
He learned things don’t come easy, and some things break your heart
He never did ask for nothing, he gave his whole life through
The path he trod was difficult, but you know that he was true

How much can a heart…. hold?

They taught us to walk and then how to run
They watched us fall down and joined in the fun
Oh they were the guys, who cherished their wives
and this was the best, the time of their lives
When the sun is high…. and the days are long…
Oh the endless possibilities… What could go wrong? What could go wrong?

We share a history, we come from common ground
and the gentle hands that raised us, we were always safe and sound
Expressed in all their actions, in the life they lived each day
was a love you can’t imagine and it’ll never go away
My Daddy taught me something – to be strong and to be true
and my heart is full of the love he gave and I give that now to you
Yes, my Daddy taught me something – to be strong and to be true
and my heart is full of the love he gave and I give that now to you
……. I give that to you.

Not for Pussies Perth, UK

Not for Pussies came into being in 2008, although Brian and Janette Kidd have been together - and playing music together (and with others) for much, much longer.
We felt we're into an era in our lives where Bette Davis' quote about getting older (it's "not for pussies") felt very apt - and our music reflects this - and the experience of having lived a little! ...
