This one first appeared as a meandering instrumental during the recording of "Demon" - but was hard to pin down into a single piece. It started with a sample recording of a local burn we walk to most days on the hill. The peace and space contained in that field recording encouraged the Doc's attempt to emulate the sparseness of Talk Talk's album "The Spirit of Eden" - initially using mainly acoustic instruments, including a harmonica and finger piano as well as some out of this world effects/treatments of voices using a KAOSS Pad. Lyrical lines on a very "Hillagesque" guitar and some breathy trumpet added to the ambience.

Edited versions were seriously considered as part of the long list for each of the albums since - but somehow didn't fit in until now. The key to its inclusion was the addition of Janette's lyrics and vocal harmonies - as well as the synthesizer rhythm section - which drove a major edit. Suddenly it had a direction and a narrative, all based on the flow of water.
